Common Plant Training Courses
Excavator 360°
- Duration
- Novice 10 days for up to 3 people, Experienced Worker test is 1 day for up to 6 people.
- Location
- Can be done at our external training area in Westwood or at the customer’s site.
- Prerequisites
- Novice, nothing needed, EWT must be experienced, this is a test only.
- Description
- Delegates will be able to:
– Describe the nature of the sector of industry and their role and responsibilities as a plant operator.
– Name and explain the purpose of principle components, the basic construction, controls and terminology.
– Confirm with Manufacturer’s requirements as per the operators handbook, other types of information source and the relevant regulations and legislation.
– Undertake all pre-use checks.
– Configure and ready for travel (site and highway – where applicable).
– Travel over rough, undulating ground, steep inclines and level surfaces.
– Manoeuvre in confined spaces.
– Configure and set for excavating duties.
– Explain actions required for hazards, underground and overhead services.
– Excavate differing types of excavations in various types of ground.
– Grade, spread and level ground and materials.
– Place materials into transporting vehicles and hoppers.
– Attach and remove buckets.
– Lift, move and place basic slung loads.
– Carry out shut down and securing procedures.
– Explain the loading and unloading procedures for machine transporting.
- Delegates will be able to:
- Qualification Gained
- Upon successful completion of the course, candidates will receive a NPORS card which is valid for up to 5 years.
Telescopic Handler Course
- Duration
- Novice 5 days for up to 3 people, Experienced Worker test is 1 day for up to 4 people.
- Location
- Can be done at our external training area in Westwood or at the customer’s site.
- Prerequisites
- Novice, nothing needed, EWT must be experienced, this is a test only.
- Description
- Delegates will be able to:
– Describe the nature of the sector of industry and their role and responsibilities as a plant operator
– Name and explain the purpose of principal components, the basic construction, controls and terminology
– Conform with manufacturer’s requirements as per the operator’s handbook, other types of information source and relevant regulations and legislation
– Undertake all pre-use checks
– Explain the need and function of appropriate documentation
– Configure and ready for travel (site and highway)
– Travel over rough, undulating ground, substantial inclines and level surfaces (with and without loads)
– Manoeuvre in confined spaces (with and without loads)
– Configure and set for lifting and transferring duties
– Explain actions required for hazards, underground and overhead services
– Lift and remove various loads up to full extension and working height of the tele-handler
– Transfer and place loads accurately at given locations
– Place and remove loads from a vehicle
– Maintain safe working conditions
– Maintain safe and tidy working areas
– Carry out shut down and security procedures
– Explain the loading and unloading procedures for machine transporting

- Qualification Gained

Industrial Counterbalanced Lift Truck
- Duration
- Novice 5 days for up to 3 people, Experienced Worker test is 1 day for up to 4 people.
- Location
- Can be done at our external training area in Westwood or at the customer’s site.
- Prerequisites
- Novice, nothing needed, EWT must be experienced, this is a test only.
- Description
- This course includes the following elements:
Counterbalance training including the basic construction and components of the machine
Operator’s handbook, including manufacturer instructions and applicable legislation
How to load the machine correctly, ensuring load integrity and security
Travel with the machine in confined areas, in both a loaded and unloaded state. This will include forward and reverse directions and how to set the forklift for various loads
Safe working parameters
Loading and unloading procedures, including on and off a transporter
Placing and retrieving loads from a range of locations, including vehicle beds and trailers
How to configure the forklift for various situations, including travel
Pre-use, post-use and running checks
- This course includes the following elements:
- Qualification Gained
- Upon successful completion of the course, candidates will receive a NPORS card which is valid for up to 5 years.
